In the heart of Kenya's magnificent Masai Mara, three specialist teams led by Jonathan Scott, Simon King and Saba Douglas-Hamilton observe the daily lives and adventures of Africa?s big cats. As the unfolding stories are intercut into a compelling diary of life in the wild, we witness the animals' struggle for survival - their battles for territory, the search for food and shelter and the perils of raising cubs with predators all around...
Big Cat Diary takes you to the Masai Mara for a dramatic season following the lives of the remarkable lions, leopards and cheetahs. The programmes contain humor, pathos, jeopardy, high-octane action and the factual content is strong and rich with revelation and insight.
The presentation style is spontaneous and intimate and the programmes feature a host of star cats. Toto the baby cheetah is just five weeks old. He's so tiny that he'd fit into the palm of your hand. Vulnerable to attacks from lions, hyenas and other predators, his chances of surviving are no more than fifty fifty. You will also meet the leopards Bella and her son Chui. Chui is a fully grown adult male and bigger than his mum. When will he ever strike out on his own? Last but not least, meet Notch, the male lion. The lone ruler of his pride, he has to face takeovers from rival males and an endless series of quarrels amongst his group of feisty lionesses.
