Based on the fascinating life of Farinelli the most famous castrato opera singer of the 18th Century. Farinelli (Stefano Dionisi) and his composer brother Riccardo (Enrico Lo Verso) toured the Royal Courts of Europe performing for the nobility, the two brothers shared everything including their women. Riccardo would sleep with all of Farinelli's girlfriends whilst hiding the truth behind Farinelli's castration from him.

Farinelli admired the works of Handel (Jeroen Krabbe) and a young girl, Alexandra (Elsa Zylberstein) recognising this, steals his latest work in order to express her love for Farinelli.
